2017 Course Information: Summer Art Camp Ages Eight-Twelve

Summer Art Camp Ages Eight-Twelve

Feed your child’s creative spark by engaging in the arts this summer. After the success of last year’s camp, Lane Berg is returning with new projects for this week-long morning class. Children will experience weaving, clay hand building methods, try an introduction to printmaking (possibly through collagraphs or gelli prints), and mixed media painting. There will be other quick projects such as origami sprinkled in, should time allow. A healthy mid-morning snack will help keep energy and interest high each day. New this year – a Summer Art Camp for the older brothers and sisters ages 12 to 16, starting July 17th.

Instructor :Lane Berg

Lane Berg is primarily an acrylic and mixed media artist, with explorations into printmaking and photography. He studied art and social work at Delta State University, receiving a BSW and an M.Ed. and currently teaches K-12 art at Timbo School as well as beginner mixed media art workshops in Mountain View. As a teacher, he has dabbled in almost everything. He says “Just about all of my personal work is influenced by the Japanese notion of wabi sabi, essentially a celebration of imperfection.” His delightfully imperfect works have a fanciful richness that suggests an interest in underlying realities. For the last 10 years he has shown in the longest running gallery in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Attic Gallery. He recently won a merit award at the Greenville, MS Invitational Show for a mixed media painting and in 2016 he taught a professional artists workshop “Wabi-Sabi, celebrating Imperfection in Mixed Media”.
