I was born in Jonesboro, AR, living my first 19 years on a rice and soybean farm, then obtaining a degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas in 1978. My husband and I currently live on a cattle farm near Siloam Springs, AR and I have been employed by U of A for 20 years. From the time I took my first basket class in 2004, I was hooked. After taking more classes I began teaching the craft. While I teach a monthly class for the Washington County EHC, I also taught a class in Copper Center, Alaska when we were there last year. I have won ‘Grand Champion’ at the Washington County Fair, along with several blue ribbons, and ‘Best of Show’ at the State Fair in Little Rock. In addition to membership in Guilds in Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana and Arkansas (now dissolved), I attend basket weaving conventions to learn new techniques, see new products and visit with friends new and old. Teaching is great fun. I love teaching beginners because they are so excited to really make a basket. I hope you will join one of my basket weaving classes to learn this craft and have fun doing it.
