2017 Course Information: Antzee Magruder
Anntonia “Antzee” says, “It has always been my dream to be an artist.” Her fascination with fabrics started in childhood when she learned to knit, crochet, embroider and sew with her Mother and Grandmother. Then she discovered art quilting. She began to treat the patterns in fabric like paint, adding handwork to create compositions with vibrant colors and details. The results are often abstract, rich in textures, workmanship and skill.
Living in West Memphis, AR, Antzee exhibits her work widely and her work is held in various collections, including those of Methodist Healthcare facilities. Her work is currently represented by The Art Fix Gallery of Heber Springs and South Main Creative in Little Rock. Antzee is deeply committed to furthering the arts in society. She recently rose to Chair of the Arkansas Arts Council Board, and continues to serve on both Opera Memphis’ Board of Trustees and Delta ARTS board, for which she previously acted as Chairperson. In addition to serving these outstanding organizations, she is currently a board member with Urban Arts Commission, Mid-America Arts Alliance, and Arkansans for the Arts.
