Growing up watching and helping his mother’s twin brother paint and pull silk screen prints, Mike Engle knew that art in its myriad of forms would always be a part of his life.
Mike is a lampwork artist who went to school in the northeast studying graphic design and fine arts.
For the past decade, Mike has owned and operated the wildly successful Mikey’s Smoked Meats & Deli on Hwy. 5 in Mountain View. Having long mastered the art of smoked meats, Mike began studying glass arts with Sage & Tom Holland, thereby discovering a whole new passion.
“Who doesn’t want to play with fire and glass to create art?”
Mike is fully invested in his lampwork and spends as much time as he can experimenting with new techniques and crafting new ideas in his glass studio. Mike enjoys creating make glass pendants, beads and marbles and teaching others how to work with soft glass and boro glass. He supports the beginning student in opening to the exploration of possibilities within this incredible art form.
