This coming (Second) Saturday, March 14, 2020, join Charley Sandage, Ed Alexander and many others at the Arkansas Craft School from 3:00pm – 5:00pm for their popular Songwriter’s Circle. This is a donation-only event and is open to all who enjoy listening to musicians write and play music – and perhaps have some songs of their own to share with the group for encouraging, supportive feedback.

Right after, from 5:00pm – 6:30pm, the ACS will be holding our first of four “Upcoming Artist’s Receptions,” which is a free event open to the public and features short talks/demonstrations by upcoming instructors. Our March 14 event features James Crowell, one of our beloved long-standing faculty members and Master Bladesmith of Mountain View, and Toni Olden, an ACS student and metalsmith of Mountain Home.

James Crowell will announce his robust 2020 schedule of courses here at the Arkansas Craft School, providing insight into how he approaches his craft and a look at his stunning knife and blade work. Jim is offering both one day demonstrations and three day intensives in bladesmithing and blacksmithing this year in order to expose more folks to the workings and glory of the forge! His one day workshops are intended to give more people access to seeing a master at work in the forge, demonstrating a variety of skills and techniques to be applied to knifemaking, bladesmithing and the blacksmithing trades, as well as providing students with some hands-on experience.

The ACS will be offering a special-event-only discount of 10% off tuition for any who register for one of Jim’s upcoming 2020 classes.

We will also be featuring a new ACS instructor, Toni Olden, a metalsmith and ACS student from Mountain Home. She will be offering a soon-to-be scheduled course in Chain Mail this summer so she will be available to discuss the art of making chain mail jewelry and will provide a demonstration on creating mobius circles. We will also be debuting Toni’s jewelry line in our Craft Market, so those in attendance will be the first to shop her lovely, handcrafted items.

We look forward to welcoming you this second Saturday for one or both of our special events. Join our growing creative community here at the Arkansas Craft School to mix and mingle with our artists, members, students and visitors!

Drop by the ACS at 101 N. Peabody Ave. in the Square for this fun event Saturday, March 14 from 3-5pm for the Songwriter’s Circle and/or from 5-6:30pm for the Artist Reception.
If you can’t make it to this event, the Songwriter’s Circle happens monthly on Second Saturdays from 3:00-5:00pm and there will be three more Artist Receptions, so please save the date for the 2nd Saturdays in June, October and December.
