Veterans Writing

  • Arkansas Craft School 101 North Peabody Avenue Mountain View, AR, 72560 United States (map)

Stroytelling can foster connection among veterans, their families and the larger non-veteran community. The course concentrates on talking about the struggles warriors have in that long journey home, a warrior experience first written about a millennia ago in the epic poet Homer’s The Odyssey. Taught by a retired Marine Corps Chief Warrant, who has taught writing and literature at Troy State University, the University of Maryland and Northern Virginia Community College, the course centers upon the veteran writing about his/her own story of the journey home, while working with the example of the ancient Greek epic poem, The Odyssey and Maximilian Uriarte’s graphic novel of the experience of a GWOT veteran, The White Donkey. Veterans from all conflicts are welcome. Register
