Chiquita Reddoch
Weaving and Painting
She learned to knit and crochet at a young age, and added weaving and spinning after that.
At the age of 11, she learned to knit and crochet. Like many young girls, after a few years, the ”fiber fun” was put on a back burner for a time… long enough for me to finish college in nursing, marry and start a family. Once again, fiber sought her out and the fun began. She is not sure if weaving or spinning interested her first. She recently ran across a picture of a weaving loom in a studio filled with colorful yarns she had cut out of a magazine in the mid 1970’s. Even today, this picture inspires her to create. She purchased her first loom in 1982 and have loved weaving ever since.
Later she added painting to her agenda. Chiquita’s favorite subjects to paint include: wildlife, Christmas and Mardi Gras painting on oyster shells and drift wood, old barns, religious and people dressed in old fashion Mardi Gras costumes.
