Ron Chandler

Oil Painting

Ron prefers to paint on location when possible. The rivers and mountains of the Ozarks, and the over all natural beauty of nature is what inspires Ron most. He believes staying true to what he loves is important as a painter.

I had an interest in Art reaching back to grammar school. I didn’t graduate with a degree in art, but I wouldn't say that I’m a self-taught artist either. Over the years, I have participated in painting workshops, and have had the good fortune to mentor with other artists from my native of Southwest Missouri. After I retired in 2021, my wife Nancy and I moved to Mountain View. We came for the music and the beauty of the mountains and streams in the area.

Having been a part time artist/painter, upon retirement I’m now able to devote more time to painting (and picking). I try to build my composition by identifying 4-6 major shapes and/or values within the frame of the picture. Then I work inward, saving the details for last.
