Hand-building Pottery, Jul 17-18
Date: July 17-18, 2026
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Tuition and Materials: $200
Instructor: Dana Finimore
Students: Ages 16+
Location: Main Campus at 101 N Peabody Ave. Mountain View, Arkansas
Learn methods for hand-building pottery that you can do at home without a pottery wheel. Students will be introduced to the slab, coil, and pinch methods of making ceramic creations. Students will also be shown techniques for adding texture, and/or embellishments to enhance their individual work. Time during class will be balanced to allow for demonstrations and leave plenty of time for students to actually work on the processes to build a bowl, cup and vase.
Once the pieces dry, they will then be kiln fired in approximately one week. After being fired, students may then return to glaze their pieces or have the ACS glaze them. The pieces will then be glaze fired and students will be notified when their pieces are finished and ready to be picked up. If needed, the ACS will ship student’s pieces to them for and extra cost.
