Experience the Joy of Woodturning, May 3
Date: May 3, 2025
Time: 10 am-4pm
Tuition and Materials Fee: $185
Instructor: Keith Kyle
Students: Ages 16+
Location: Main Campus, 101 N Peabody Avenue, Mountain View, Arkansas
You may bring water and a lunch, or you may wish to visit one of our fine restaurants in town.
This workshop is designed for the beginner woodturner in mind but any experience level turner is welcome. Come experience the joy of wood turning as you learn the basics of turning wood on the wood lathe. By creating two projects you will get the full experience of basic skill to fine finishing.
The first project will be a Farm House Pillar Candle Stand giving you ample opportunity to feel how the knives work against the wood and adjust your hand as you go. You will have plenty of time to hone this skill before progressing to your second project, a choice of a finely finished ink pen kit or a seam ripper. Both will give you that finishing experience needed on a more fine tuned level. Complete turning tools and accessories will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own turning tools if desired.
Spending a day on the wood lathe is messy yet satisfying. Come join us in the sawdust and discover a new hidden talent or fine tune one you might already have. Please be advised to wear appropriate clothing and closed toed footwear. Aprons are not required but are welcome. A lunch break will be observed.
Need a place to stay? These businesses offer a discount for ACS students and instructors while attending or teaching at ACS.
