Learn how to craft compelling poems using memories, stories, and images from your life. Through close reading and discussion of contemporary poetry, you’ll gain practical tools to strengthen and inspire your own writing. Instructor, Megan Nichols, will provide handouts with poems, prompts, and suggestions for further reading. Participants will have the time to draft new work, share their writing, and receive guidance on revision and publishing. Please bring a photo of yourself with a person you’d like to write about.
You may take a short lunch break if you wish. Water and soft drinks allowed.
Megan Nichols is the author of the chapbook Animal Unfit (Belle Point Press, 2023). Her poems have appeared in Iron Horse Literary Review, The Threepenny Review, Frontier Poetry and elsewhere. She was a finalist for the Write Bloody 2021 Jack McCarthy Book Prize and named a 2022 Brooklyn Poets Fellow. She serves as a poetry reader for River Mouth Review and is Associate Managing Editor for Poetry at Variant Literature.
