Twisted Tapestry, November 16
Date: November 16, 2024
Time: 10am - 4pm (hour off for lunch)
Tuition: $55
Level: Beginners
Instructor: Jeanette Larson
Students: Ages 16 and up
Location: Arkansas Craft School
Learn to spin your own yarn and weave a small tapestry. Spinning is as old as civilization itself, older than recorded history, and yet as modern as the clothes any one of us is wearing right now. Two of the basic processes involved in making cloth from fiber are Spinning, or the twisting of fibers into yarn or thread; and Weaving, or the passing of yarns over and under each other to make a solid fabric. In this class you will spin yarn from wool that has been washed, dyed and carded. Then you will take that yarn and weave a small tapestry on a flat board loom.
Jeanette is the craft director of the Ozark Folk Center. She fits spinning, weaving, crochet and design time into the edges of her day, but fiber arts are the thread that ties her life together.
